Studio & practice

Surface, layering, and sustained looking.

The practice is built through long sessions in the studio, where paint is layered, scraped back, and reconsidered. Themes of memory, light, surface tension, and quiet spatial relationships recur across series, each painting a record of how a decision was reached.

Work is documented in full and in detail, so that a curator or collector can read the surface as closely as the composition.

Ideas & influences

The thinking behind the surface.

The work draws on a philosophical interest in how perception is shaped over time, and on the way visual memory settles into fragments rather than complete scenes. Ideas about attention and slowness guide the choice of what to leave unresolved.

Material curiosities, including pigment behaviour, the drag of a loaded brush, and the way light sits on a textured ground, shape the visual vocabulary. Each influence is held loosely, so that the paintings remain the primary argument.
